Aurélien Cotentin, better known as OrelSan, was born in 1982 in Caen, Normandy, France. His stage name combines a diminutive form of his first name (“Orel”) with the Japanese honorific suffix “San,” reflecting his early interest in manga and Japanese culture.
Before becoming one of France’s most acclaimed rappers, OrelSan graduated from a business school and worked various jobs, including night-shift work in a pizza factory.
