Jany McPherson

Jany McPherson is a pianist, singer, and songwriter who has built a brilliant musical career over the years. Starting in Cuba, she collaborated with numerous prestigious Cuban musicians such as Orquestra Anacaona, Omara Portuondo & Buena Vista Social Club, Alain Pérez, Manolito Simonet, Tata Guines, Miles Peña, among others. Her hard work and dedication earned her the Adolfo Guzman Award, a highly regarded accolade in the Cuban music industry.

After establishing herself as a prominent figure in the Cuban music scene, Jany McPherson moved to France where she quickly caught the attention of French producer Yves Chamberland, who had previously worked with renowned artists such as Nina Simone, Henri Salvador, Michel Petrucciani, and Richard Galliano. Together, they recorded her first album in France in 2011, which featured collaborations with prestigious musicians such as Didier Lockwood, Andy Narell, Michel Alibo, Olivier Louvel, Thierry Fanfant, and more.

The album was a huge success and was broadcasted on various French National Radio Networks such as France Inter and France Bleue, as well as on numerous jazz radios. It was nominated for the prestigious “Cubadisco Internacional” award, similar to “Midem” for the international market of Latin music, in the category of “Best Album of Contemporary Songs.” This recognition paved the way for Jany McPherson’s second album, “Blues Side Live,” a live album that was also nominated for awards the following year and received praise from the jury and personalities such as Chucho Valdes.

Jany McPherson’s career continued to flourish, and she collaborated on stage with renowned musicians such as Mino Cinelu, Andy Narell, Michel Alibo, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Pierre Bertrand, Irving Acao, Rafael Paseiro, Nicolas Viccaro, Pippo Matino, Minino Garay, Thierry Fanfant, Hadrien Feraud, Olivier Louvel, and his lifelong accomplice Dominique Viccaro. Her live performances showcased her as a true show-woman and tremendous stage performer.

In 2020, Jany McPherson released her latest album, “Solo Piano!” which was recorded in Rome. This album is a true testament to her love for the piano as she entirely devotes herself to the instrument, showcasing her passion, virtuosity, and melodies from the heart.

Jany McPherson’s distinctively exotic sound has earned her numerous performances at international festivals, including the USA, Finland, Mexico, China, Trinidad & Tobago, Peru, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Spain, Guyana, Colombia, Nepal, among others. She has also performed at several French and European festivals, including Nice Jazz Festival, San Remo Uno Jazz, Perc Fest, Grenoble Jazz Fest, Laval-Meslay Gres Jazz Fest, Palais de Chaillot, L’Atrium Scène Nationale/Martinica, Auditorium P-E Decimus/Guadeloupe, Equinoxe Jazz, Jazz à Fareins, Porto Latino Festival, Jazz en Baie, Jazz à Toute Heure, Parfum de Jazz, and more.
